Studies confirm that correctly performed HQC (high-quality compressions) can significantly increase the likelihood of surviving a sudden cardiac arrest, potentially doubling or even tripling survival rates. We are confident that our streamlined approach can reduce bystander hesitancy during a cardiac emergency by consistently reinforcing three key actions
1. Recognizing an unresponsive person
2. Calling 911 and getting an A.E.D. if available
3. Immediately starting HCQ (high quality compressions)
A community earns the designation of being a "Compression Ready Community" when 70% of the members are adequately trained and regularly practice HQC.
Each community member will go through our 20 min training class which consists of a brief introduction, a slide presentation with a 6-minute video followed by hands-on HQC training on a feedback manikin.
To maintain compression readiness, community members will be scheduled a 2-minute practice session every 6 to 8 weeks after the initial training to help develop muscle memory.
We hope through repetition to promote confidence and understanding thereby improving bystander hesitancy rates during a sudden cardiac arrest
